Title: What if everything becomes a sell?
Post by: bryanmcn on April 22, 2007, 07:01:06 AM
What happens if the system can't find any good buys and at the sames time, it decides that everything in the porfolio should be sold?  Does the portfolio accept a zero position status?

Hello bryanmcn,

The answer is not the same for all the portfolios:
- Low PEG Ratio: One of the parameter is hard-coded (PEG < 0.6) and if the system can not find any stock that meets this, then we can end up with an empty portfolio.
- Earnings Upgrade Estimates: This is basically a relative filter, so it will always pick the "best" candidates and will not end up empty.
- Price Momentum: The basic Price Momentum Weekly and Monthly portfolios are also based on a relative filter and are always holding at least 3 stocks, and 10 as a maximum.
- Now, The Ultimate Price Momentum series: As they are based on a delay filter added on the Price Momentum Weekly portfolio, it can happen that they end up empty. The Ultimate Price Momentum v5 need a stock to stay as a buy for 5 weeks before showing up, if at a point, it is not the case for any stock, then the portfolio would be empty. At worst, if all the stocks hold in the Price Momentum Weekly portfolio are shuffled every week, then the whole series of Ultimate portfolios would be empty.
