Title: Canadian Tech Sector
Post by: Big_Gary on October 15, 2007, 07:08:11 PM
Does anyone know how to put a value on a specific technology?  I have recently come across a small Canadian tech company (Empower Technologies - EPT.V) that has just been granted a U.S. Patent on handwriting recognition and data entry interface.  My question is: how much would this patent be worth companies like Motorola, Hewlett-Packard and Microsoft were all already using the technology in covered in the patent?  How would you go about calculating how much it would bring in the way of royalties?  Or would the company just be acquired instead.

Thanks

- Gary,

Gary,

That stock is very thinly traded.  It has about a $1/share deficet.  It might be on the verge of becoming profitable.

My advice is watch but wait.  It is under the radar of any analyst right now and with a quarter or two of good results it could move up.
