Title: AAH
Post by: DCA on December 27, 2013, 10:18:29 AM
Sometimes I am guilty of not doing my due diligence ahead of time.

Seems AAH is being bought by Mitel for 3.6 MNW and $6.52.  So by buying AAH at this point we are really buying MNW.  (Which has gone up since the announcement.)

I seem to remember hearing here that an acquisition announcement meant sell and yet this stock was bought after the announcement.

A little confused.

AAH is trading ~$1 below the cash and share value of MNW if the transaction closed today.

Hi DCA,

Indeed, we do not buy, or we sell if the stock is already in a portfolio, a stock that has been jumping because of an acquisition.

But, in this case, both the buyer and the bought stocks have kept on rising since the announcement, so we have not rejected this choice.

Of course, would the two stocks show up in our filters, we would not buy both.
